There's a Marsupial On My Lap!

Without a yard to tend to and no kids' activities, we have had unusually free weekends since arriving in Oz.  It has been refreshing!  We definitely miss the house, the 'hood and even the yard (thanks for the photos Katie!), but it's been enjoyable to have the freedom to choose what to do with ourselves.

However, this weekend was the start of soccer and AFL (Aussie Rules Football) season for Sam.  He had a great time playing with his buddies from school and couldn't wait for practice (they call it training here) to start up this week as well.

Saturday started off with beautiful weather but quickly turned cloudy and cool so we headed back to the Taronga Zoo to explore some more.  Once again, we couldn't resist the koalas.

Didn't know they could sleep and poop at the same time...

Never again will I complain about a double bed!
The animals here have one of the best views in the city.  It must be the best zoo view anywhere!

I don't know how they do it, but so far these are the most active and awake zoo animals we've ever seen.

Before leaving, the kids wanted to go back to an enclosed exhibit which features Australian animals wandering around freely.  You are asked not to touch the animals, which are clearly quite tame.  Mia sat down to get a closer look at a mama Red-necked Wallaby with baby in her pouch.  (FYI, the Australian word for redneck is bogan.  Thanks to Katie for teaching us that one - at her husband's expense!  :-))  This curious wallaby gave Mia quite the surprise!

The face says it all!

Sam was interesting, but not quite as enticing as Mia.
Thanks to all the readers who give us feedback.  We enjoy hearing from you!

Katherine,
I have mostly been using a Canon 70-300 mm lens. I confess I don't know what a pearl lens is, so I'm definitely not using it! :-) Rachel
